Skylar’s goal is to create a judgment free space where people can be honest about the challenges they are facing and leave feeling understood, taking with them tools to alleviate stress and suffering.

Approach to Counseling

Through the use of Narrative Therapy and Feminist Theory, Skylar empowers her clients to let go of negative thoughts patterns and toxic cultural messages in order to adopt new affirming beliefs about themselves. She believes that clients are the experts in their lives and aspires to learn from and with the people she meets with.

She believes in the healing power of centering breath, visualization, and mindfulness practices. These techniques are implemented into her work with clients. Skylar values the power of connection, laughter, and authenticity between counselor and client. She prioritizes showing up as a real, genuine person people can relate to.

Skylar views relationships through an Emotion-Focused Therapy perspective. This means that she helps couples and individuals better understand the cycle of conflict they are in as well as learn from the emotions they experience in order to communicate what they need.
