Karishma Arya

Counseling Intern
Supervised by Claudia Thompson, LPC-S, LMFT-S

Karishma is a relational counseling intern dedicated to helping individuals and couples deepen understanding, strengthen connection, and make sense of the experiences that shape them. Through thoughtful exploration and insight-building, she supports clients navigating life transitions, communication challenges, relational conflict, or a desire for greater clarity and closeness with themselves or their partner.

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and being vulnerable can feel unnerving, but Karishma works to create a space that feels supportive and empowering. She values sitting with her clients in their experience and ensuring a safe, secure, and judgment-free space. She invites her clients to be active participants in their work together, helping them move toward the growth and shifts they’re hoping for. Whether you're facing big life changes, rebuilding trust, exploring intimacy concerns, or managing anxiety or depression, Karishma is ready to walk alongside you.

Approach to Counseling

Karishma bases her work on the ideas of Virginia Satir, who believed that everyone has the ability to grow, heal, and create meaningful change when they feel supported and understood. At the heart of this approach is the belief that our relationships, especially the ones we grew up in, shape how we see ourselves, how we communicate, and how we connect with others. By noticing old patterns, we can create new ones that feel more authentic and empowering.

Karishma aims to offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where individuals and couples can explore what’s getting in the way and move toward stronger self-worth and more meaningful relationships. At the heart of her work is the belief that everyone has the potential for growth, and that with compassion and support, real change is possible.

Education

Karishma is currently completing her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas State University. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, and her Associate’s Degree from Austin Community College. Hook ‘em!
