Monica Garner
Practicum Student Counselor
Supervised by Jill Baumgarner, LPC
Monica is a patient person who wants her clients to feel at ease and supported during their time together. She understands the importance of maintaining future goals while still celebrating wins along the way. Her priority is to provide a comfortable atmosphere in order to foster trust, growth, and curiosity. Through the twists and turns of life, Monica helps her clients channel their strengths to reach their goals with therapy.

Monica works with both couples and individuals on a variety of topics. Some of these include sexual desire, communication challenges, sex and aging, life transitions, and relational conflict.
Additionally, Monica supports people experiencing anxiety, feelings of loneliness, or technology addiction. If Monica sounds like a good fit, she would love to chat with you!
Approach to Counseling
Monica gravitates towards the family systems and person-centered therapy approaches. A family systems approach recognizes that we all have patterns of function and/or dysfunction in our relationships, and a therapist can help highlight these interactional patterns to support the client's needs.
Monica also understands the importance of building a foundation of trust with her clients in order to approach therapy as a team.
Education
Monica is currently a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy graduate student from Amberton University. Additionally, she is a graduate from the University of Arkansas (Woo Pig!) with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
