Stephanie Nasr

Counseling Intern
Supervised by Claudia Thompson, LPC-S, LMFT-S

Stephanie Nasr is a counseling intern who works with individuals and couples who feel disconnected: from their partner, from themselves, or from the kind of relationship they want to be in.

Many of her clients are aware that something isn’t working but feel stuck in the same patterns. Whether that looks like conflict that keeps repeating, emotional distance, or not fully understanding their own reactions. It can be frustrating to want change but not know how to get there.

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially when it means slowing down and putting words to things that aren’t easy to talk about. Stephanie creates a space where clients can ease into the process and begin moving toward something that feels more honest and connected.

She works with a wide range of clients, including LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, and provides an affirming, respectful space for all identities.

Through their work together, clients begin to feel clearer about themselves, more confident in how they communicate, and more connected in their relationships.

Approach to Counseling

If you feel stuck with yourself or in your relationships, it doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It usually means you’re caught in a cycle that keeps repeating.

Stephanie helps slow things down and focuses on the moments that feel confusing, frustrating, or hard to explain. Together, you start to make sense of what’s going on underneath: What are you feeling? What do you need? What feels hard to say out loud?

As this becomes clearer, things start to shift. Clients begin to respond differently, communicate more clearly, and feel more connected to themselves and to the people in their lives.

Stephanie brings a steady, honest, and engaged presence into the room. She guides the process while respecting each client’s pace, creating a space where people feel comfortable enough to be real, explore what’s going on, and begin making meaningful changes.

Education

Stephanie is currently completing her Master’s in Professional Counseling at Texas State University. Her training is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and a relational, systems-based approach to working with individuals and couples.

She continues to deepen her learning in trauma, attachment, and relationship dynamics. She is involved in research on intimate partner violence and creative approaches to healing, including the role of play in adult therapy.

Outside of graduate school, Stephanie serves on the board of the Section for the Advancement of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity (APA), reflecting her commitment to working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples. Her background includes harm reduction, substance use prevention, and recovery work, along with experience supporting adolescents and families navigating emotional and behavioral challenges.

Before entering the counseling field, Stephanie owned and operated a dog training business, which shaped her understanding of behavior, patterns, and change.
