Carly Miller-Mandel
Counseling Intern
Supervised by Claudia Thompson, LPC-S, LMFT-S
Carly provides a safe and supportive space where you can explore yourself, your relationships, and your world more deeply. She is passionate about helping people build deeper connections with themselves and others. Life can feel overwhelming at times, and therapy with Carly offers a place to pause, reflect, and breathe. After working with her in therapy, her goal is that you'll walk away feeling lighter, more grounded, more connected, and more like yourself.

Carly believes that you have the wisdom to find your own answers. Her role is to help you connect with your inner wisdom and strengthen your relationship with yourself. With warmth and genuine curiosity, she listens without judgment, ensuring you feel truly seen and heard.

Change is a natural part of life, and as we grow, our relationships often shift. Carly works with individuals and couples to navigate these changes with greater understanding and compassion. She understands that the patterns we develop throughout our lives inevitably show up in our relationships, and we often project our own feelings and beliefs onto our closest people. While navigating these dynamics can be challenging, it can also lead to greater understanding and compassion, fostering stronger connections.

She will help you understand your emotions and needs and what your partner's emotions and needs are. Carly gently explores how past experiences influence current patterns, helping you create healthier ways of relating. For couples, she recognizes that letting your partner in on your inner world can feel scary and vulnerable, this is something you can explore together in session, learning to create safety and openness within your relationship.

Rooted in authenticity, empathy, and collaboration, Carly believes that the therapeutic relationship itself can be a powerful source of healing and growth.
Approach to Counseling
Carly takes a systems oriented approach to therapy. She values the connection you build together and understands that the challenges you face in everyday life often show up in the therapy room. She recognizes that we are all shaped by the systems we grow up in and are part of, from our families of origin to our communities, workplaces, and broader cultural contexts. These interconnected systems influence our relationships, beliefs, and ways of being in the world.

As your therapist, Carly firmly believes that you are the expert of your own life and your unique experiences within these systems have shaped your perspective and worldview. When working with couples, she approaches each partner as part of a team, understanding that no one person is "the problem." Instead, she focuses on the patterns and dynamics that have developed between partners, examining how their respective backgrounds and the systems they've navigated have influenced their relationship.

Carly works collaboratively to strengthen the couple as a unified team, helping partners understand how their individual histories and the systems they've encountered have shaped their communication styles, attachment patterns, and relational expectations. She creates a safe space where both partners feel heard and valued, fostering an environment where the couple can explore their dynamics with curiosity rather than blame.
Her systemic lens allows her to help couples see beyond individual behaviors to understand the larger patterns and contextual factors that influence their relationship, empowering them to create positive change together as a strong, connected team.
