Lauren Little

Counseling Intern

Supervised by Jill Baumgarner, LPC

Lauren is a Counseling Intern who sees individuals and relational units (couples, partners, or families) who are seeking to enhance their sense of connection, navigate conflicts effectively, and build trust and vulnerability in their relationships. All relationships can experience frustration and dissatisfaction for any number of reasons, especially when past traumas and challenging repeated behaviors leave us feeling stuck and lonely.

Lauren also sees individuals who are seeking to grow in their sense of identity and connection to themselves and others. Through the counseling process, relational units and individuals can explore any issues, learn to repair and grow from conflicts, and build satisfying relationships.

Lauren sees the counseling process as a genuine and vulnerable process and sees that counseling can be challenging as we uncover vulnerabilities. Through counseling, Lauren hopes to build a relationship of safety, trust, and hope. She is passionate about helping her clients restore a sense of connection, pleasure, and purpose.

Additionally, Lauren works with clients who may have experienced anxiety and depression, identity issues, trauma, religious or spiritual harm, body shame, or grief and loss.

Approach to Counseling

The counseling process often involves authenticity, curiosity, and creativity. Within Lauren’s counseling approach, she utilizes techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and somatic experiencing. Each of these theories work to identify thoughts, feelings, and associated patterns that disrupt the relationship to self and others. These frameworks help bring balance and harmony to the internal system so that change can happen from the inside out.

Lauren incorporates somatic experiencing by providing centering techniques such as breathwork or mindfulness skills to her practice. Incorporating somatic work helps deepen the physical and emotional awareness to attune to the self and others, allowing for holistic change.

Education

Lauren is currently a Graduate Student at Texas State University. She will be completing her master’s in counseling program in May 2024.
